What is Restorative Dental Care?
If you are experiencing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth, our dentists can repair them. Our goal when offering restorative treatments is to help your teeth function more effectively and preserve your oral health.
Once your oral health condition has been diagnosed, the dentists at SKH Dentistry will determine the right restorative treatment option for you.
These options can range from root canals and fillings to repair existing natural teeth, or crowns, bridges and dentures to replace badly damaged or missing teeth.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are porcelain caps that are often placed on top of a badly damaged tooth to restore its function and appearance. A dental crown is most commonly used to cover dental implants, attach bridges, or stop an already-cracked tooth from worsening. They can also be used for cosmetic purposes, to restore a discoloured or stained tooth.
Dental Fillings
Our dentists use tooth-coloured composite resin fillings to restore a tooth after it's sustained damage or developed a cavity. These fillings are made to withstand regular pressure from chewing and can be used on teeth anywhere in the mouth. The colour of the filling can be customized to match the rest of your teeth, leaving you with an even looking smile.
Root Canals
During a root canal, your dentist removes diseased blood vessels, nerves and tissues from inside your tooth. By getting this decay and the associated bacteria out, your dentist can stop infection from setting in, hopefully saving the tooth from needing to be extracted.
Dental Bridges
Bridges are tooth replacements designed to replace a section of missing teeth. These are custom-made to match your existing smile and are bonded to the teeth on either side of the gap. By replacing your missing teeth, you can restore the natural contour of teeth and the bite between the upper and lower teeth.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are artificial teeth used to replace one or more missing teeth. When they replace several teeth in a row, they are called partial dentures. When they replace a whole jaw of missing teeth, they are called full dentures. They allow patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure and talk and eat properly.
